Doha DOH: What to Do on a Layover

Getting from the airport
DOH to city center: 51 minutes by bus (Ras Bu Abboud Station-Circular). Trains run every 12 minutes. Service runs 05:00 to 23:30. Skip the taxi unless your connection is under 5 hours.
What to do in Doha
The stops worth making: Museum of Islamic Art, Souq Waqif, The Pearl, Desert dunes. Rated above 4.4: National Museum of Qatar (4.7), Museum of Islamic Art (4.7), ميناء الدوحة القديم (4.8), Imam Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab Mosque (4.9), Mina District (4.8). You do not need the full tourist circuit. Pick two and commit.

Doha is visa-free for US passports. No application, no fee. The border process at DOH is efficient — expect 15 minutes or less.
How long do you need
Plan for at least 5 hours to leave the airport comfortably. The transit alone is 51 minutes each way. Up to 72 hours makes it a proper overnight.

DOH has 12 lounges. For short connections under 4 hours, the terminal is the destination — food options, showers, and enough space to reset before the next leg.
