Zaventem BRU: What to Do on a Layover

Getting from the airport
BRU to city center: 32 minutes by rail (IC, Brussels Airport-Zaventem -- Ostende). Trains run every 6 minutes. Service runs 05:00 to 23:30. Skip the taxi unless your connection is under 5 hours.

The stops worth making: Grand Place, Manneken Pis, Belgian chocolate, Waffle tour. Rated above 4.4: Grand Place (4.7), Parc du Cinquantenaire (4.6), Royal Palace of Brussels (4.5), St. Michael & St. Gudula Cathedral (4.7), Royal Gallery of Saint Hubert (4.5). You do not need the full tourist circuit. Pick two and commit.
