Self-transfer and separate tickets

Some fares are two bookings stitched together. You claim bags and check in again. That is normal for aggressive savings.

Pad the connection. Minimum connect times assume one ticket and checked-through bags.
If the inbound is late, the outbound carrier does not owe you a free fix on a separate booking.
Visa and entry rules apply every time you leave the secure zone.
